The Event

The conference, titled "Vine to Mind: Decanting Wine’s Future with Data Science and AI," was held from June 13rd to June 15th, 2024, at Harvard University, on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of the Harvard Data Science Review academic journal. Organized by Harvard’s Department of Statistics and Applied Sciences, this cutting-edge event explored the synergy between artificial intelligence and the wine industry, paving the way for innovative collaborations and new technological practices in this field.

Role of Houyem Chaib and Christian Kittery

Thanks to the initiative of Christian Kittery, in charge of the alumni network for the American Fulbright exchange program, ICD Business School was represented by Houyem Chaib, a teacher-researcher in marketing strategy. She presented her research on "The Impact of AI Integration on Rural Economic Development in the French Wine Industry," bringing a unique French perspective to the conference. Christian Kittery played a key role as the moderator of the panel dedicated to the application of data and AI in the wine industry. He commented: "This conference, dedicated to a first international meeting between artificial intelligence experts and major players in the wine industry, is a very avant-garde event as it is the starting point for collaborations that do not yet exist, as well as the development of new practices associated with an emerging technology. I am very happy to have been able to benefit ICD through my Fulbright network."

Distinguished Guests

The event brought together influential figures from the wine industry and the academic world, including Pierre Yves Calloc’h, Chief Digital Officer at Pernod Ricard, Saskia de Rothschild, CEO of Château Lafite Rothschild, and Jean Baptiste Rivail, Executive President of Bollinger USA. On the academic side, renowned professors such as Oliver Gergaud from Kedge Business School and Bradley Rickard from Cornell University contributed their expertise, highlighting the importance of exchanges between the wine sector and academic research.
